P.R.E.P.
Post Release Employment Programme.
What is P.R.E.P.?
P.R.E.P is a set of resources for post-release citizens who are trying to integrate back into civil society. Our modules aim to identify issues relevant to the rehabilitation of prisoners post-release and equip them with the skills and confidence to re-enter the job market.
Why is P.R.E.P. Necessary?
After their release, many recently released individuals feel a lack of control, loss of self, and the world appears almost like a dream. This is a crucial time, and a time in which support for reintegration is paramount. In India, however, the situation is dire for these citizens. There is little to no official guidance, resources or legal aid for people who are trying to reintegrate into society. Having served time in prison carries a huge stigma, and it can be almost impossible for post-release individuals to find employment, housing or loans, among other things. Without the opportunity to lead a better life, and without acceptance from society, thousands slide back into the world of crime.
